Hello all,

My parents have had a leek and had to cut into the ceiling to fix and have asked me to sort the ceiling now. I boarded it and skimmed it 2 years ago so its still pretty new.

My plan is:
Cut out damaged area and reboard (about half a meter to a meter square)
Scrim the joints to the existing ceiling
PVA the surrounding area to blend on to
Skim/blend in using multi finish.

I've skimmed loads of ceilings but never done a patch. Is the above correct or do I need to add/remove any steps? How will it work blending on to the existing ceiling which is currently painted with emulsion?

Thanks in advance

May not be the correct way but works for me : I recess and feather a 50mm strip around the perimeter of hole with my multimaster just deep enough to sink the scrim and then skim very slightly below flush...then finish with drywall filler...If you can skim better than me which isnt difficult you may be able to blend with multi without filler?

Don't forget to put extra noggins in around the edges of the ceiling patch.
