Patio contruction

I have read so many different ideas on patios its so confusing.

We used to have small patio which was very uneven and also some cultivated parts I am now looking to cover this all with patio.

Can someone advise whether its worthwhile putting a concrete base down or is it cheaper to la down hardcore, thena binding layer of sand.

Any help much appreciated. Also where the best places to obtain hardcore from?

hardcore well compacted is much cheaper and easier and less messy than concrete. concrete will require a hardcore base anyway.

as for obtaining hardcore?... licenced shops or amsterdam

if its a small area, and you cant get hardcore then a bag of mot will set you back about 50 and do the job. Try your local papers as theres normally somone trying to get rid of it.
