Patio Step and DPC

Hi

We have plan to put brick patio step but step will end up above dpc.

There were used to be old step (half width) that was also above dpc.

It seems the for old step they dpc between wall and rendered it.

Not sure what are my options.

Any help pls?

Nobody steps on the join between the step and the sill.
Build the step about 4" or so away and buy a bit of drainage channel with a grating that you can fit between step and building

As step will be high at least two bricks from patio. Will there be void underneath drainage channel?

It's about 115 from step to wall (so to speak)
It's roughly square.
You could bed it on dabs of mortar or even chuck the plastic part and just use the top to stop leaves etc falling into the gap. It shouldn't get stepped on given it's position so could just sit on a bit of galvanised metal that sticks out from the step but doesn't actually touch the house? Your sill overhangs by about 1-2"

Polythene up the house wall, build the step. No need for an ugly drainage channel which is doing nothing but being ugly.
