Patterson puma 80e

Okay I’ll give that a go! Tell you what I have noticed. My boiler hasn’t locked out after using the hot water since I’ve noticed this problem.

It could be a sticking pump, the Myson pumps are not the best, if it is indeed the pump you can just replace the head, using a replacement Myson head or a thing called Multi-head pump replacement

I think the pump is working okay! On the main circuit board there are 4 plastic square sparks as it cuts out

Would a sticking pump be more inconsistent with the fault? Like run for different amount of times?

once they kick in they tend to run no problem but most common they stick when starting from cold but not always

I think this one is running to be honest. I’m getting a humming sound and a vibration that suggests it is

I take it we have ruled out the wax capsule? By turning off the cold INtake.

I’m going to leave the cold water off for a while see if this has an effect :) rather than just turning it off for a few minutes.

No the wax capsules tend to swell up and jam, a very common problem with your boiler, you used to be able to buy the capsule as a separate item, but seem to remember that they changed it and you need to buy the complete valve now, very easy to swap the capsule but changing the complete valve is an real pain

Okay! If the capsule was jammed would I be getting heating at all! My house still gets warm from the 30secs of hearing. All be it very slowly!

I think you can still get the capsules from what I’ve read. I just can’t see where it would go

I have two chrome pipes connected to the front of my diverter valve

I’ve also just read that the pump as a common fault on these is that the pump impeller can come adrift from the motor shaft.

have you ever come across this?

as already said the Myson pumps are very poor, if you think that might be the fault it is only 4 x bolts that hold the pump head in so take it off and have a look, more likely to be the wax capsual though

Okay mate. That’s for all your time in trying to help? Did you see the photo of my diverter valve?

yep no surprises there just drain the boiler undo the two chrome pipes remove the Capsual housing and the capsual is in there
