With the conveyancing culture that we have I don't think you can be too harsh on people wanting an ldc for peace of mind.

Loving this discussion though. Currently trying to decide how wide to make my slot. The last few threads had spooked me in to 1000mm wide but I think I'll drop it back to 700mm on the basis I have different depths and roof styles. I'm not bothering with an ldc though.

The original poster wrote about extension to kitchen and lounge.
Assuming the house at back is only the kitchen and lounge then one of the kitchen or lounge will be the wider and so will be wider then half the house.
I agree that this sort of stuff is a nightmare.
Perhaps the depth of these extensions are beyond their councils planning guidelines.
