Peace has broken out.

It's the same f'kin deal that's been on the table since last May...and Trump's trying to claim all the credit to get his long cherished Nobel Peace Prize in the bag. It's been a bi-partisan effort from the get-go but it was amusing to hear the heckler at Blinken's conference yesterday, reminding him of America's complicity in Israel's war crimes.

So, how do you see this playing out. The two right wing parties are saying that they will accept the ceasefire. But only if Netanyahu guarantees that fighting resumes after six weeks. Stages 2 and 3 of the peace deal can't go ahead if Israel resumes fighting. Trump wants his peace deal, so that might make him really mad. If the right wing parties pull out, the government might fall. Would that mean new elections. Is Netanyahu popular enough again, after his recent military successes, to win that election. Will Trump flip on Israel if it all falls apart.

An interesting discussion here which covers these points and a few more:

Freedom is what they all want and the Zionists won't allow that or consider 2 state solution- because they want the whole land
I don't think Zionists have a problem with a state for Palestinians, just as long as it isn't in Palestine.

Everything is being nicely choreographed for Trumps return to the Whitehouse.
Netanyahu accepts a deal he could have had long ago but delays it so that Trump can claim credit for it.

The Jewish people have one quite small place in the world they can call home. It is called Israel. The Muslim people however, have a much bigger pick
I presume you are European.
Have you ever considered moving to some other part of Europe in order to make room for the millions of illegal immigrants worldwide who want to have a small place in the UK they can call home.

Now that Israel have bombed Gaza until there’s nothing left, they don’t mind a peace deal

Then you presume wrong.

Said in the news this morning that the UN estimate that it’s going to cost a billion $ just to clear the rubble from Gaza

Than there is the rebuild costs

countries will be reluctant to cough up for rebuilding the place that’s assuming any one wants to pay up ???

As it will get flattened again ??? When the next spat breaks out ?? After the next hamas attack ?

No point in re building to many concrete structures

Trump seems to have some sort of grand plan and I've been trying to get my head round it. It seems to involve a role for Saudi Arabia. I got the impression that the Gulf states are happy to pay for reconstruction. Apparently, Trump enjoys working with rich dictator types. But I'm still finding it very complicated.

This is such a big issue. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I really wasn't up to speed on any of this. If Trump pulls this off, he will certainly have earned a Nobel Peace Prize. There is an excellent article here by Jeremy Bowen which provides a further summary of the potential "grand bargain":

During the last Trump presidency Trump initiated the Abraham Accords by negotiating the normalizing of relations between Israel and several Arab countries. Normalizing meaning opening of diplomatic relations, tourism and trade and recognising Israels sovereignty. So far agreements have been made with Sudan, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco. (peace agreements were already signed with Jordan and Egypt many years ago.
Saudi Arabia were on the cusp of signing when October 7th occurred. It's no secret that Iran were desperate for Saudi not to enter into an agreement with Israel.
Saudi's signing will be dependant on a West Bank solution and working toward a two state solution. When Saudi do eventually join the accord, and they will, expect other arab countries to follow.
Israel has massively weakened Irans influence in the Middle East, the Abraham accords and renewed sanctions will finish off Iran, or at least the Ayatollahs which means freedom for the Iranian people.
Saudi is acutely aware that oil is on a downward spiral and so wants to become more involved in tech and manufacturing to secure their own future, Israel as the most technologically advanced country in the Middle East would be the perfect partner for Saudi.
The US have guaranteed Saudi security in the form of advanced weapons if they sign up to the Abraham accords.

There have always been destabilising factions in the Middle East, encouraged and funded by Iran, Russia and to a lesser degree, China. Saudi signing up to the Abraham accords will tip the balance of the Middle East closer to stability.

Turkey are emerging as a bit of a wild card, as much as they complain about Israel illegally occupying Southern Lebanon, Turkey are illegally occupying parts of Northern Lebanon whilst carry out a genocide of the Kurdish people.
That wont change any time soon, been going on for too long.

Why would they if Israel wouldn't sign the agreement? Eight months of genocide could have been avoided.
