We bought a very nice tap for the bathroom but foolishly used a very harsh de-scaler on it without reading the instructions properly  . Now the silver coating is peeling. As it was not cheap and is only two years old, we'd like to renovate it. Is there any type of silver 'paint' or covering that would work. Must be waterproof, of course.

Any paint you put on it would last only a short time, which is just as well, as it would look horrible. Are you contemplating painting the entire tap? You might consider having them re-plated.

Indeed replating is the only way - must be hundreds of platers on Google  Even if it costs as much as a new tap , I dare say the chrome plating will be a better standard than original
