Why does this make me sad?
Well, the light isn't fantastic. They are a pain in the arse to fit and wire up and a pain in the arse when decorating. They also are usually rubbish quality and rust/corrode or tarnish fairly quickly.
Also they don't seem to have a standard size. I've a bag of them going rusty in the shed because the difference in hole sizing was too much.
Changing a bulb is an exercise in dexterity.
