Hi
I have just installed some downlighters on a chrome strip in my parents house. the problem i have is that the light switch that used to work the single bulb light will not turn of the new lights.

obviously becouse it only had a 3 piece connection kit on it we just stuck all the red wires to the live , and black to netral and the earths all together

any help much appreciated

Sigh...

You need a junction box or a new terminal strip. One of the black/blue wires probably has a bit of red/brown tape/sleeving - this is the switched live and should connect to the live terminal of the fitting. If there is no tape/sleeve then you need a multimeter - ofcourse it would have been easier for you to pay attention to the fitting you took down and just copied it...

I would have tried to copy the fitting m8 but toatally different
cheers for the help
