Hello all,

Can anyone tell me if permitted development is a 'one hit' deal? i.e.. Can I add space in the loft AND add a 4 metre single story extension to the rear?

Thanks.

Yes. The majority of loft conversions are PD (Permitted Development) so would not warrant a planning application anyway.

The only thing to bear in mind is that if you're dealing with both works under one application, then if the planning department found something wrong with the extension or refused it, that would also affect the decision on the loft conversion. If you dealt with them seperately, if you received a refusal for the extension, this would not influence the decision on the loft conversion. But obviously if you deal with them separately, there would be two lots of planning fee's.
