Petrol Engine Powered Hedge Cutters

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good petrol hedge cutter for cutting back 12' Leylandii hedge.

depends what you want to spend.

Ecco trimmers are very good but will set you back £250 upwards.

May be better off buying good second hand petrol ones and get them serviced than paying for cheap ones with a big heavy flywheel.

If you cut it back to the dead wood you will end up with a dead hedge. Its best to cut them off just below the ground

what do you mean when you say its best to cut them 'just below ground'- I need the hedge to be between 7.5-8.0 ''

Its ok to cut the top off but if you cut the sides back to the brown bits it will not grow back. If it’s the top you are cutting you want a saw not a hedge trimmer.
