Hi
I have a 1966 1.8 escort hatchback with a broken fuel pump.
To save taking the tank out I have heard you can cut a hole out of the floor under rear seat and wondered the best way to do this in approx. the right position.
Looked on you tube but doesn't give right position I.E.size etc.
Any tips gratefully received !

A difficult one as the tank is tight up to the floor, and I'm wondering what ideas you have to cut the hole? Obviously heat and sparks are to be avoided and a jigsaw blade could penetrate.
I think I'd be dropping the tank personally - the straps will be well rusted by now anyway.
Is this the car with the 16v Zetec motor? I don't think they were around in 1966!
John :)

Have you looked under the seat yet? This '97 model has an access panel. Otherwise this shows where you need to cut. I'd drop the tank personally, that cutting just seems a bodge too far for me unless I was getting a sender out of a breaker's yard which incidentally I did do recently for a Fiesta.
