phone line down on line ok

having a lie in this morning phone rings at 9 930 945
then someone chapps the door gets up[10 00] picks up the phone no dialing tone checked all phones are hung up[as the phone has just been ringing not expecting a problem]

decides to turn on the computer to see if i can go on line well hear i am some hours later no dialing tone and no phone calls

asked the lad who phoned to check if his phone is hung up ok uses his
mobile yep his home phone is hung up[thus eliminating his house phone or mobile phone as the possible culprate for holding my line open]

well any idea boys and girls

it was confusing me i carried on unplugged all phones inserted them individualy one at a time still no joy
racking brain phone ring line ok internet works ok

so if you get the smptoms phone ring sombody knocks on the front door
and the internet still works try the boxes
