Well folks, it's that time of the week again!

This week we have a light in a cellar.

It is fed in rubber cable, and just inside the cellar door it is jointed oin open strip connectors to some speaker type wire.

This is strung across the cellar to the light point.

Not entierly sure. Certainly pre Victorian. It was an old farm house. The walls are around 2½' to 3' thick, with the majority of that cellar being below ground level.

The joiners exposed the original stone staircase, which was so worn it was difficult to walk up and down them.

Wow!

Nice solid house, Rob!

Shame the same can't be said of the wiring, eh?!

Still, if the wiring were OK, you wouldn't be there, would you?

Is that 'whitewash' on the cable or some other 'gunk'? And did the bulb still work?

Yeah, it is whitewash on the cable.

The light was working fine when we got there.

My sidecutters have been very busy on this job.

..whoever wired up our kitchen cabinet lights used speaker wire :-( . I soon replaced it...
