In addition to the main focus... anyone like to speculate on the black thing to the right of the frame?

Not sure, but it looks like meter tails wrapped in tape or something?

I assume thats a straight / split con feeder directly behind the pyro.

Is this a meter cupboard with the tails and a pyro straight into a henley?

Presumably as a BS951 clamp has been used on the pyro, there is no gland or an earth tail on the pot seal.

There looks to be an earth rod in the back ground, so this might even be a TT supply?

Very good Rob, probably as close as its possible to get from seeing such a small glimpse

It is a meter cupboard (or rather probably was at one stage, I must say it looked more like a rotten heap of firewood to me...) theres multiple supplies in there (the feed though comes from above off the utility pole its attached to), everything at the bottom is outgoing and beind the MICC is a 2-core SWA with a similar connection to the sheath. It is indeed TT. The MI does have a gland... unfortunatly its hanging in mid air a couple of inches below an RCD and the single insulated L and N cores continue in...

Oh and the black thing is something wrapped in tape... a bunch of 2.5mm T+E cables to be precise from a storage heater DB which is located in the cupboard, these are then buried in the ground across to the property

Presumably the EICs all carry the name and contact details for the electrician(s) who installed all that?

I asked for the previous periodic... I think the guy knew I was just humouring him
