Maybe a hand-cranked genny at the front door.
Crank the handle and the bell rings! SHould still be on double insulated cable though..........

I took out a loft light and a socket yesterday, both connected with bellwire !

Years ago I took out a door bell where the mains to the transformer was switched by the door bell push at the front door. Only because it was in a dry porch did no one every get a noticable shock from the bell push. Also wired with bell wire.

well it worked, so it must be ok.

i once removed a socket wired in bell wire. nice

What was the wire terminated into at the other end?

Straight into a 5A fuse in an old wylex fuse box.
