Tut - another item to clutter up your desk/drawers/etc. And to lose...

Just found out from my Barclays bank, not everyone getting one :?

Apparently it's to do with when banking online, every Barclays customer has or will be getting a new connect card with the latest chip & pin technology. It's to prevent fraud, I'm not sure if everyone will be getting a chip & pin card reader :? Was told it those of you who set up a new standing order to make a payment to friend or family but not if you are setting up a payment to a known company. I first knew about the card reader when they have sent one to my mum as I managed all her online account. I'm still confused though :!:
You put the connect card into the card reader then enter your pin number and it will give you another code number for setting up a standing or direct debit payments

Someone actually wrote in requesting an explanation as to how this thing works.

Sorry, we do not reveal our trade secrets.

i think that they should make the PIN number user definable in length..

at least 4 numbers but up to 8..

gives you the chance to set a higher security number and makes guessing it harder...

I'm aware of what it is...I'd just like to know how to be on the list to not to have to use one!!

A 'bonus' of this device for barclays is that they get to know more of your internet 'habits'!
