I want to run pipework down from loft to a shower thru a stud wall partition between 2 rooms. Is it OK to drill straight down thru the head plate (the horizontal timber across the top) to accomodate 2 X 15mm pipes? The partition wall does not appear to be doing anything structural and I am clear of the cross rafters in the loft which support the plasterboard ceiling.

YEP its ok , worst that may happen is hidden wires in it
Although I'm sure the sparkies would have been good professional tradesmen and put protection plates on the studwork...
