I am building a single storey extension involving boiler relocation new cloakroom and kitchen extension so ie water feeds, rads etc . the corgi fitter was keen on the idea of putting water pipes rad feeds under screed , have done some research on here and see in general its a bad idea to bury water pipes under screed but heating pipes are ok as droping rad feeds gives a poorer flow ( current system micro bore) and could be prone to blocking am i correct with this as i would prefer to pour the floor slab in one without screed. but dont want to upset him by saying on diy.. etc without being sure of the facts . Many thanks all

Its a bad idea to bury anything in concrete. Many people do though!

Water regulations require mains water pipes to be laid in a duct. This is deemed to be acceptable if put in a tube from which they can be withdrawn.

I have a question about waste pipes under screeds. A friend has asked me to put some waste pipes under a screed. Not a job I normally get involved with as I specialise in boiler repairs.

Would most plumbers use solvent weld, pushfit or compression fittings? And would they wrap the waste pipe in anything???

Tony, if the waste pipe was put in the screed would you be able to satisfy the BR's regarding falls, etc?

Fitting to the correct fall is not the problem!

Its knowing whats the best materials to use!

I'd go solvent weld, and try to wrap it. to protect the pipe if anything.

Saying that, i'd avoid doing a job like that, bad enough with showers and tiled floors
