Hi, am a newbie, so apologies if I don't give all the relevant information or use the wrong terminology!

We just had our plumbing updated, by having a megaflow installed, and bringing a new mains water pipe into the megaflow so that we have mains pressure. Our plumber also upgraded our existing pipes to ensure we had 22mm pipes throughout the house for hot and cold water. We are thrilled with the results, all our outlets have fab pressure / flow rate (am not sure of the difference between these two things from an 'experience' point of view).

We are now having our attic converted to a bedroom / ensuite and the builder has run 15mm pipes up to the ensuite. The taps are fine up there (not amazing but ok) but our swanky 30cm rain head shower is a bit rubbish. Would it make a difference if we were to ask the builder to change the 15mm pipes to 22mm pipes. I understand that the shower valve itself is only a 15mm inlet, but would the 3m length of 15mm pipes up to the top be preventing my rain head shower being great?

Thanks for any advice you can give,

Regards

D

You need 22mm for rainfall shower heads as close to the head as possible... For every bend, twist and turn in the 15mm; you'll loose a tiny amount of flow as the bends create resistance; 22mm will give you a large diameter to absorb them losses.

Ignore the connections to the shower head; they will be 15mm without question.

Additionally; you may loose a small amount of pressure naturally just the the effect of gravity and the water supply having to be "lifted" to the top floor of the house.
