planning needed?

I need to re-build my stable yard, which originally had planning consent.

The stables are wooden and I would like to replace with block built, clad in the same wood so the appearance won't change and it'll be on the same footing. The roofline will be evened up but no higher and will be sheeted in the same material as part of it is currently.

Any opinions on whether I actually need planning permission?

More than likely... yes as a re-build is seen as new development, even if it's with the same/similar materials and a similar size.

If in doubt, ask and get in contact with your LPA.

Can you strengthen the existing walls by internally adding blockwork? Maybe in a few years, if the weather's bad you could then re-clad them...

That said, under what premise were they built in the first place? If they're outbuildings for the incidental enjoyment of your house and land and are within the residential curtilage, they might fall within Permitted Development. Agricultural permitted development exists too, but it depends on the size of the land and the structure on it

Thanks for the thoughts

Unfortunately it's not within deemed permission, but maybe I could get away with 'strengthen the walls' as I'm planning to replace the original cladding anyway and replacing the roof appears to not require permission - or is that only for houses?
