Planning permision and finished size

We have been granted PP for a side extension 8 Meters by 3 Meters with a pitched roof.

Would we have to reapply for PP, If we actually built smaller than we had permission for, Say 6 x 2.5 meters.

No, not at all. If it was the other way round, then yes... but not if you're going smaller.

Some rationale must apply though, if it ends up looking radically different then the approved drawings have not been followed and arguably it is in breach.

Planning permissions usually state: "must be be built strictly in accordance with the approved plans blah blah blah...." or words to that effect.

So imo the answer would be 'no', it would require a new application.

But of course in the real world you're right. The council won't do anything.
Technically the OP could say it's work in progress and will be completed when he's got sufficient funds!

I'd like to see this tested, this is always spouted about, inspectors are generally on the ball. Just saying like.

I think the answer is as tony says. Strictly speaking you should build to approved plans but in practice building a bit smaller is immaterial.

Did you actually want 6x2.5, but applied for larger so that you'd have some bargaining give'n'take?
