Hello Everyone

i am about to plasterboard a ceiling in my house.

probably double board with 12.5mm boards.

just to save money really, i was thinking of taping and filling the joints.

is this done very often on ceilings and is it more prone to crack?

Thanks

if you are trying to save money, why double board?

i would always skim the whole ceiling. it is quite time consuming dealing with all the fixing heads as well as taping the joints.

Get it skimmed.

If you go down the taping route you need do an A1 job with the boarding (little more leeway with a plaster finsh)

plus when you factor in taping, filling, sanding a few times it just not worth the money it saves.

Finally and this is the biggy for me, if you dont get it perfect then every time you're lying in bed you'll see those figgin joins.

Couldn't have put it better myself.
