Hi

I could do with a little advise please.
I need to finish the underside of a staircase i have recently fitted, it consists of 5 steps on a normal run, so thats easy to board, but then I have six steps to bring it around 180% inc two kite steps. what would be the best way of getting a nice finish, i guess i could use loads of battens and several pieces of plaster board, then build up a reasonably smooth finish with plaster?
or is there an easier way to do it?

Thanks for your help.....

the way I usually do it is with plenty of battens and then expamet mesh fixed to the battens, then it's a case of building out with bonding to get a nice smooth curve, before skimming.

Thanks for that Chappers,

will the mesh support the weight of the bonding, my concern is the mesh is very flexable and may distort when building up the various layers?

If i use mesh, whats the best way to join the plaster board covering the flat run to the mesh?
