Hello

I have a few questions as i know nothing about plastering.

Is it ok to plasterboard a conservatory dwarf wall and also the external wall that the conservatory is attached to ? also what type of plasterboard should i use that i can paint straight over. also what type of fixings should i use, and are there any other important bits that i should consider.. and what difference is the finish between plasterboarding and plastering.I appreciate any advice.

thankyou

dot and dab the walls, tape then skim.

the external/now internal wall do the same.

keep the board 25 mm off the floor using plasterboard packers.

do this now and not in the summer unless you want crazed skimming and you need to loose a few stone

if you want to just paint the board? use tapered edge board, bed in paper tape with joint filler, let it set, then a couple of coats of easyfill.

sand and paint.

then wait for the sun to hit the joints

tape and joint is crap, skim it or get someone that can

your talking about tape and jointing m8 not plastering then
as for setting the plasterboards use board addy too dot and dab the boards too the wall
then when its set you scrim the joints and fill with easyfill 45 i use a 6" taping knife on the first coat let it pull in a bit sponge off the edges
then use easy fill 20 quick set over the top with a 12" taping knife let it pull in and sponge off the edges let it firm up and use a wet clean sponge to rub out lines let it set and sand it
but after you have fannyed about with it a plasterers will have probably layed on the lot and started the top coat

why not float and set the walls i like tape and jointing as it gets me away from skimming all the time :(
if its done right it will look the mutz nutz
there is a 101 ways too tape and joint iv just told you one way of doing it
this i the way id do it as its a small job

i worked on site back in 2009 there was a firm on there tape and jointing 40 houses there wasnt a bag of finish in site all using tape teck gear and propper power sanders that used paper bedding tape it looked the tits
but if the tackers fooked upp on the board work they just jumped house and told them too sort it or i wont get done tiil the end of the job and it fooked the rotar up forthe rest of the firms on site they used 5 diffrent subbys on there shocking i was on the cement clading out side and
the tape and jointer was on the nick too lol ther sites firm hired in all the kit and mats on the finishing side of things and a load of it went
in the back of his van at the end
we even got two new gillotines off there too

lol @ "cos we tell you too"

It to stop and moisture that may end up the floor from wicking up the plasterboard and making it turn to mush :)

its so you dont bridge the dpc

Plus its a nice void for the spiders, mice, grass snakes etc to live in the winter
