Can anyone explain why plastering ceilings is considered beyond the capabilities of diyers by books etc ( eg big strong boys!). Having become fairly proficient at walls, base and skim coats, I am dying to attempt a ceiling, and cant see why it should be any more difficult, except harder on the arms! TIA of any advice cheers

Put it this way pretending you're wallpapering the vertical walls now that was easy wasn't it , now you're wallpapering the ceiling ! Not quite the same is it ? ! The plaster have to be right mixture + wetness and correct pressure onto ceiling as you're working upside down. I'm not saying you can't do it but it not the same as a vertical walls and you have to be quick otherwise you'll lose the suction of the plaster to the ceiling.

Good luck and erm , er erm there is a disaster forum on the homepage!!!

This is why us boys are earning a fortune , anyone can paint walls but to scim a good ceiling takes a long time to perfect , leave it alone , haha

I just wanted to say that big strong boys were a bunch of bodging poofs.
