Having ruined my plastering trowel thinking it was a suitable tool for levering up a floorboard, I'm looking to buy a new one.

It will only be used for DIY repairs so I don't need anything fancy, though I'm really not a fan of cheap, poor quality tools.

I've noticed when looking around that trowels seem to be available in carbon steel as well as stainless steel. What are the pro's and con's of each?

carbon steel will rust immediately . stainless steel wont.
get the cheapest stainless one you can find.

superflex stainless........too dear for diy though.

Just clean the trowel at the end of the day, and oil it weekends or when not being used for a while.
