Hello

I have a little plumbing job to do.

I have a bit of John Guest plastig pipe and pipe inserts. I also have some polyplumb elbows etc.

Is it ok to mix and match between manufacturers, or am I best off getting some JG fittings to complete the job?

TIA

Using the correct inserts for the pipe is the important thing. The fittings are normally universal.

Polyplumb and Speedfit will be interchangeable, but as above, correct inserts should be used.
The inserts should be the same as the pipe, not the fitting, i.e. Polyplumb pipe, Speedfit fitting, use Polyplumb insert.

If using Speedfit pipe and Polyplumb fittings I'd suggest the normal Speedfit inserts, not the superseal ones with the rubber 'O' rings.

The important thing is that the inserts are a tight fit inside the pipe so that it is not compressed.

Thats even more important if brass compression fittings are being used.

I used to like the stainess steel inserts but they are very difficult to find now.

Even the plastic inserts are a stupid price, usually 11p-24p each, when they must cost about 1p-2p to make!
