Can any help me?

I have a two way light switch in the loft. Two lights with separate switch.
One of the lights is operated, also live feed from the bedroom below.

I want to change the two way light switch in the loft for a remote dimmer - can this be done?

The pictures are of the current two way switch and the new remote dimmer.

yes it could... we need a better picture of teh original switch though.. and the wires in the back of the box so we can see what's what..

is there a red, yellow and blue cable in the switch?

Are you planning on keeping it 2 way.
The dimmer you show, looks like the type that only works as 2 way, by fitting a retractive switch at the other point.
It can be used as 1 way if desired.

As you look at the original switch picture

bottom left L2 Red(2 core), Blue(3 core)
bottom left L3 Black(2 core), Yellow(3 core)
top left L1 Red(3 core)
bottom right L1 Red(2 core)
top right L2 Black(2 core)
top right L3 nothing

hope this helps

are you keeping the 2 way switching or relying on the remote?

as said the dimmer may not be compatible with a regular 2 way switch..

we'll need a model number or name to confirm..

however..

if you're not keeping the 2 way switching then..

the 2 reds from the red/black cables go into the L
the 2 blacks go into the ~/~
the earths go to the earth terminal on the front plate..

if you ARE keeping the 2 way switching and it's compatible then i believe it is as follows..

as above for the 2 red/black cables..
the red from the red/yellow/blue goes into the "SW"
the blue in L with the 2 reds..
the yellow in the ~/~ with the 2 blacks..

the dimmer is by GET PLC (schneider)
i have wired it as two way but it just keeps dimming up and down.

i have not tried the first way as is the three core the live feed from the downstairs switch?

then you need to swap the other switch for a momentary switch as was said higher up..

or take it out completely..

no the 3 core isn't the feed from the downstairs switch, it's just strappers...

unfortunately GET do a lot of different dimmers so we need a model number or name, not a make..
