The pull switch in my shower room operates the light and the extractor fan.
The fan has packed up and I have bought a replacement; Wickes model 199798.
The problem is with the wiring. Connected to the old fan [coming down through the ceiling] the connections consisted of 4 wires, whereas the new fan has only 3 connection points.
*The wires coming down through the ceiling are:
yellow, bule, red, and a completely stripped copper one.
*The new fan instructions state it is double insulated & does not require an earth connection. The 3 connections it does require are labelled L; N and L1.
I need advice on which wires to connect and what to do with the unused wire
Many thanks in advance

First - isolate the circuit and check for dead!

Did you note which conductor connected to which terminal on the old fan?

Normally, the red conductor would be permanently live, yellow (sleeved red) switched live and blue (sleeved black) neutral.

A multi meter would verify that but my suspicions would be:

L - red
L1 - yellow
N - blue

The unused bare wire is a CPC (circuit protective conductor, or earth wire).
This should be covered in green/yellow sleeving and terminated into a suitable connector block.
