Whipped off rad to decorate behind wall.

Been told that to prevent leaks i should really be using some sort of plumber grease on the threads of trv and lockshield before tightening the rad nut

Can anyone confirm

1. Whether there is any truth to this?

2. If so, what grease do i need?

3. Ironically, I found some 'plumbers grease' lying around (please see attached). Would this do?

I’ve been taken off plenty and refitted and never used grease without issues. Not sure who told you that. Could it be they meant jointing compound, which is different. Again, I’ve usually only had to use anything other than what’s already there, maybe the odd ptfe on a problematic joint.

Yes, i made a mistake.. Was told to use 'jointing compound'

Plumbers grease is on my mind as i happened to find some gathering dust in my bag.

Similarly, i have never used jointing compound when refitting rads.. But then again i only whip the odd rad off per year...

If you've never had to use it as a tradesman, then that's all the confidence i need.

Thank you.
