I have a bath which I do not wish to change, the flat is 37years old.
The waste pipe from the bath/sink is steel, this than joins to the cast iron soil pipe.
I want to install a new sink & a new waste trap for the existing bath.
I appreciate this is a specialized job ( two quotes from plumbers £300 ).
What I require is a fitting to connect the existing steel pipe to the new plastic pipe.
I am no stranger to DIY - the job involves cutting the steel pipe & linking that with the new plastic pipe.
Issues - I can't be sure of the diameter of the steel pipe (circumference is 16cm or 6. 1/4").
Is there a standard fitting that can be used?
Should I use a rubber gator to connect both the pipes ?
I have also heard of a Timesaver joint ?
Please help on this simple job which should not cost me £300, thanks.
