Hi

I am laying 18mm ply over floorboards in a old house but part of the floor has a stone slab and concrete area (where the old chimney used to be).

Just wondering the best way to lay ply over the stone and concrete; I.e any better ways than screwing
into the stone with Rawl plugs

Thanks

DJ

Where the footprint of an old hearth and fireplace is in concrete or stone then its best practice to remove the concrete and stone and lower any earth fill inside the old fender wall.
It will also enable you to examine the condition of the joist trimmings around the hearth.
To make good and guarantee a level floor then go back over the lowered area with some new short joists.

Otherwise you will have to drill, plug and screw the ply down.
