Pointing and DPC

My dpc was bridged by mortar so I raked out the joint to expose the dpc membrane, the joint is now exposed to the weather and quite deep, how do I now fill the joint, is there a mastic I can use?

are you saying that you have removed the pointing to your dpc? if so you need to re-point it with sand and cement. the pointing alone will not cause a breech.

The mortar joint which contains the DPC was pointed over resulting in the dpc being hidden behind the pointing and therefore bridging the dpc.

I have raked out the mortar and I can now see the dpc, but it does not protrude from the face of the wall, it is about 1/4 inch in.

I now have a joint which need filling with something any idea what?

The house was built in 1951.

Expansion joint mastic not sure if you can get it from Builders merchants.........you`ll need a lot of it and the small tubes of generic mastics won`t be big enough ...........sometimes done by specialist companies

As noseall said, the DPC is pointed and this is not a breach.

In fact, DPC should be set back 5-10mm so that it doesn't blow the face of the joint off and the building settles or moves lightly

You need to piont it back up with mortar, and it seems you may have wasted your time in raking it out in the first place
