I am renovating the brick porch on the front of my house. It has a 2 brick thick wall with no cavity.
I would like to damp proof it and paint the inside. At a later date, I also want to move my boiler into the porch.

The wall moarter is very sandy and crumbles easily. I can brush sand off it continuously. The outside needs pointing, but on the inside is it OK to apply tanking over this moarter, or should it be pointed as well?

The house is not very old, 1965.
