Pointing inaccessible stone walls

Hi,
I need to point certain stones within our chimney breast walls in the loft to try and cut down on drafts as I use it as an office. The areas which need pointing are very inaccessible gaps between stones.

What's the best way to point them? (mortar gun?!) and with what? (given the walls are 180 year old stone.

A pointing trowel is the usual method.Is the wall external?

No it's an internal wall but as mentioned the gaps aren't easily accesible with a trowel as the stones aren't equally spaced or even.

see pics below. gaps are quite small so trowel won't easily go in.

You just use a trowel you can then brush off after.

Why is it inaccessible? You don't even have to get a ladder out or put your coat on!

by inaccessible I mean the gaps are too small to get a trowel into

You need to rake the joints out and use a finger trowel

If you really want to go down the trowel route google artists pallete knives there are various small trowels and they are very flexible, I use a selection when I'm decorating for filling etc.
