Probably is.

Why has it got a 2-pin plug if the flex has an earth core?

Is the appliance double insulated?

Fitting a new plug is simple enough but when you come up against this type of plug which I havent come acros myself you start to doupt your yourself.

Hence looking for advice.

Thanks again Gordon.

Try a firm called powerconnections they make an adaptor that the europlug fits into to enable it to be used with a BS1363 socket outlet.

I use Schuko adaptors - as shown above - for the Braun kettle and coffee maker I bought from Germany.

When inserted into the socket, the Schuko plug covers the socket cavity (1) and establishes protective-earth connection through the earth clips (2) before the live and neutral pins (3) establish contact, thereby preventing users from touching connected pins. A pair of non-conductive guiding notches (4) on the left and right side provides extra stability, enabling the safe use of large and heavy plugs (e.g. with built-in transformers or timers).

if you get the adaptors, make sure they:
1: have an earth, seen quite a few travel adaptors that don't
and
2: can take the load you need, again seen a few with a limited capacity, more designed for laptops/phone chargers etc.
