I have 35 square meters of floor to cover. I can't really decided between polished or matt tiles. its for a rear extension with a large opening and gets the sun through most of the day.
What is the most popular preference, matt or polished porcelaine.

Your tiler is right. if you have a big light source, and especially if its a solid colour you'll spend your life cleaning it. Ever owned a black car? :-)

as a cheeky question - what porcelain are you buying and at what price...i'd like the chance to better it

its 15.35 per square meter plus vat. 600 x 600 tile.
TBH I had a polished grey tile, with a slight pattern, an ivory plain tile, both polishrd ans a matt porcelaine tile. A few steps in and out of the garden and the matt till held the dirt the most. The polished didn't seem to grip the dirt and the grey only showed the dirt as a dulness in the tile.
I was leaning towards the grey for this reason, but wondered if grey was a popular colour as I don't want it to look dated in a few years time.

Not sure you’re asking the right question & what you’re aiming for! Unless you have specific tiles in mind then why porcelain & why further limit yourself to matt or polished? They will require sealing, can be more difficult to lay & be even more difficult to keep clean, if you go for glazed porcs then you won’t have any problems at all. I have 50 sq/m of them in a conservatory/linked kitchen opening directly on to a south facing garden & the dirt from a long weekend of 2 daughters & 4 grandkids just mops off in half an hour when there gone!

But then again why porcelain, what’s wrong with ceramic?

I like the format size, the durability, quality , and look. the intensioni s have something that will look classic and won't look out of date in 10 years time as it seems that finished are not changed for fashion and with the cost I would prefer something that would look good in 10 years time. With regards to sealing and laying, that is not a problem as the tiles are quality and don't need sealing and the tiler can lay 9square meters in 3/4 hours with this format size without a problem.

Go for ceramic. Porcelain is a fad. Polished is too slippery, you'll end up on your arse in no time.

Sounds a good price to be honest.

with teh polished you tend to see the dirt when looking across it, not above it -so if you sit down and look into your kitchen you'll see every mark

tpt. I imagine that you are a tile supplier or fitter. What is your best selling Porcelaine tile for kitchen floors.

Yep supplier. polished porcelain our best seller is called lounge - 600x600 and 600x300. made by rak. the dark grey and black are the most popular

Tpt. And in the porcelaine range which is the most popular. The polished or matt.
Thanks

polished, but a lot is also used on walls.

Thanks. Foe floors what is the best selling Porcelaine tiles. polished or mat in the 600 x 600 format?

matt, but polished is becoming more and more popular. The feedback we then get is that customers have issues keeping them clean as they tend to come in asking for specialist cleaners etc

Just to shortcut that question - lithofin easycare and a microfibre mop ;-)
