Porch a bit too big?

No - it's just that they're public officials and some of them take exception to being challenged.
I find that when planners (or any council official) are wrong, and you know they are wrong, and they know that you know they are wrong, then you can tell them they are wrong with a high degree of cofidence that they won't do jack.

Yes that's great woody but the fact is the porch
is over the permitted size.
Some battles are not worth fighting, especially if
they start getting their tape measures out!
 
There is nowt worse looking than a poorly thought out, poorly built porch (except a really bad lofty that is).

Are you saying the planners have no right to enforce the rules?
 
A poorly-thought-out porch sits somewhere between the plague and stud walls on the avoidance scale. A poor loft conversion is off the scale
