Today is Sunday and so I choose a hymn, 'Let Us With A Gladsome Mind'. Hymns are such strong tunes, singing them at school gave me my love of music. Before communism all of England knew these tunes.

For his mercies I endure; ever faithful, ever sure.

Today we look at DRUGS. Drugs and rock music are inextricably linked... in the 1960s groups started dropping coded references to drugs in their songs and when challenged would deny any drug connection. Can anyone spot the drug references in Hawkwind's 'Hassan-i-Sabbah'?

'Life In A Northern Town' by Dream Academy, a rather good song from 1985. Filmed on the steep streets of Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire.

Rainbow with Graham Bonnet were fantastic; without him they were boring. Such a powerful voice on 'Since' and 'All Night Long'. Speaking of powerful voices...

BANNED! I was banned for 7 days! I must now post 2 songs a day for 7 days to make up .

This song was BANNED by the BBC 50 years ago for bring TOO RUDE. It would be mainstream on the modern Beeb, where anything sensible is now called FAR RIGHT.
