'Dominique' by the Singing Nun. Huge hit in Britain and America in 1963 at the time of the JFK assassination; knocked the Kingsmen's 'Louie Louie' off the top spot in the US, and was in turn knocked into oblivion by the onslaught of Beatlemania. An oddity, but back then the charts were a magical mixture of all kinds of different music, unlike now where all music is split into boring 'genres'. The story of the Jean Decker, the Singing Nun, is a tragic one - she was driven to suicide by tax demands. 'Dominique' is much a part of rock history as 'Louie Louie' or 'She Loves You'...
