'Silver Machine' by hairy degenerates Hawkwind, 1972. One of the heaviest records ever to grace the Top 10. This is an odd film clip, totally out of sync with the music, but it's the only footage I've seen of the Lemmy-era Hawkwind and so is quite precious. The dancer is Stacia, who often performed NAKED. The fantastic drummer is Simon King, who had been in the group Opal Butterfly with Lemmy in the 60s. Hawkwind had an ever-changing line-up, centred around the ever-present founder Dave Brock. Lemmy lasted until 1975, was sacked and then formed Motorhead.
