I watched The Vikings last night (Curtis, Borgnine, Douglas). It's reads like a clichéd script.

Great film. Especially the fun tug-o-war over the firepit.

King Théoden had some great lines in LotR and made the best speeches, but the line above i always attributed to a friend Tolkien knew and served with in the trenches of the Somme. Four were from his schooldays in Birmingham where he formed a club ( the Tea Club ) and two were killed in action. When he put those words in the King's dialogue with Aragorn i hear an echo of his conversations with them during the short time he served in the Lancashire Fusiliers as an officer before succumbing to trench fever.

The line; "Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath. Now for ruin. And the red dawn!" is pure Tolkien, drawing upon his years of studying Beowulf and Anglo-Saxon lore at Oxford.
