Getting a switch where you want it is not easy, I had in last house three lights in the master bedroom, one on ceiling and one either side of the bed as reading lamps, with a three gang switch at the door, and a pair of two gang switches either side of the bed, most were two way, one was intermediate, so either of us could switch main light on/off from bed or door, and we could also turn our reading lights on/off from bed or door. This rather fixed the position of the bed, but otherwise worked well.
However in this house just a switch by the door, a smart switch so hey google turn Eric's/Linda's bedroom lights on/off works without any complex wiring, when my wife had knee done, used dinning room as a bedroom, so swapped the wall switch for a smart one, and put a button on the bed, this one
it was magnetic so stuck to bed frame, it was simply not used, she just used voice commands, so re-used as a door bell push button, OK if we still slept together then voice not so good, but there are so many wireless options now. Loosing use of fingers.
