Hi,

I am trying to let air out of the AAV on the pump to try and rectify a problem and get my boiler going again.

Original Problem

Any ideas on how to get the plastic screw moving?
Im really afraid Ill break it.
I have used a lubricant(gt85) but its still stuck.

Any ideas will be very welcome.

Cheers,

Why have you started a new thread?

Better to keep them together so that advisors can easily follow what has been said before.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your message.
Yes youre right I should have stayed with the original thread.
Im new to this and was just not getting any more replies to the original thread so thought that maybe its now become old and forgotten.

Any ideas on how to loosen that AAV?

Cheers,

David

I cannot suggest anything other than pliars when the body is hot.

It may break.

If nobody replies after 3-4 days then just add a new word or two. Experts are out repairing and installing heating systems and many only log on ever few days.

The AAV has started leaking so even though I haven't managed to remove the screw, loosening it seems to have done some good.

Am I right to assume that if its leaking water then there is no air in it(tiny wee drip coming out of it)?

That being said we still have no hot water.
Any more ideas?
