hi hope someone can help, i have a potterton profile 50e that fires up and then goes out after 20 to 30 seconds. im not too clever wiith the old boilers could someone point me in the right direction as its becoming a pain.

Not if its a gas/combustion issue!
But its more likely to be a pump or lack of flow and the boiler is just heating itself up and turning off on its thermostat.
Feel the two pipes and see if the flow is too hot. They should be about 11 c difference when working properly.
