potterton profile 80e keeps blowing fuses

Changing the pcb didn't make any difference.... finally realised the programmer may be the problem. Replaced it and all is now well.

I have spent
Air pressure switch £50 (ebay)
PCB £40 (reconditioned one from ebay)
Programmer £36 ( B and Q)

It has taken a lot of head scratching and maybe the pcb and air switch didn't need changing, but at least now I know what to do in the future.

Most of what you have said is not substantiated by how the boiler works.

A programmer only provides a switched live to the boiler which causes the PCB to start the ignition sequence, pump, fan, spark, gas etc.

The programmer could not start the fan but prevent it sparking.

Nor could the programmer ( normally ) cause a fuse to blow.

Only the pump, fan and other mains powered devices could cause a fuse to blow.
