Potterton profile e40 boiler (help)

i have just moved home and the boiler is a potterton profile e40 unfortunately every time i put on the hot water the heating kicks in i do not have a clue wot to do. this boiler has a 3 point valve system and i really need help how to use this thing .
i have tried turning the valve up and dwn
but i dnt really know what to do any help is appreciated

sounds like the 3 port valve is passing

check the flushing arm isn't in the lug at side of the motorised head, it's an old trick when selling a house and it saves the actuator being replaced when faulty
