For the last 2 years the gas combi boiler we have has not been consistent delivering hot water. The CH appears to work fine. When hot water is demanded the water comes out hot but after a minute or so will turn cold. It appears the bolier stops heating the water (even though the tap is still running) then it will start again (you hear it fire up again). It makes it very hard to have a decent shower as its hot one minute and cold the next. Pressure in our area is good and even when I only run the hot it shows the same problem. Can anyone offer advice as we have recently had a registered CORGI engineer around to service the unit but it didn't resolve the problem. Thanks in advance.

It sounds to me that you may have a partially blocked hot water heat exchanger, which requires de-scaling or more than likely replacing.
Either that or its a faulty D.H.W temperature sensor.
Either way you require a heating engineer to determine the fault and rectify the problem.

Thanks for such a quick response. Well.. I've got a name for an engineer who lives locally so I shall be giving him a call tomorrow. The boiler was only a year or so old when I moved in just under 2 years ago. We do live in a hard water area. Thanks..
I know this post is very old; but if OP reads this and wondering if you could remember and let know what was your solution? I am having similar problem with Puma 100e...So indication of your problem solution would be a great help and would avoid me to start new thread.

There are many different causes of boiler faults and whatever this one was eight years ago is unlikely to be the same as yours.
