Hi,

Complete novice here, so please bear with me.

Moved into a property with a Potterton Puma 80. To date all is ok except for a constant drip / running of water from the external overflow. What can this be and how can I get it to stop dripping!?

Please help! Thank-you....

It can be only one thing - the safety valve leaking.

You stop it dripping by replacing it with a new one.

You need to do it soon because the water being lost contains (or should contain) an corrosion inhibitor, and the fresh water that you'll have to add to maintain the system pressure will gradually dilute the dose and encourage the process of corroding your radiators.

While you're waiting for a heating engineer to come, you could opening and suddenly closing the safety valve to loosen any scale that might be stopping it shutting.
